The stresses of modern life were getting you down, so you headed out to the woods with just the bare necessities: A tent, a hatchet, some food, and your trusty, but ancient, crank flashlight.

But in these woods, there hides an evil that’s older than time. A dark smog encroaches and your campfire dies down. Find a way out, but keep that flashlight charged… you’ll never escape without a light guiding your way!

(cw: mild gore, animal enemies)

Controls:

  • WASD: Move the Seeker.
  • Mouse: Rotate the Seeker.
  • Arrow Keys: Operate the crank on your flashlight to recharge it. Up -> Right -> Down -> Left.
  • Left-Click and hold to pull your hatchet back. Release the button to chop.
  • Right-Click to holster / unholster your hatchet. You need a free hand to crank your flashlight.

Made for Ludum Dare 46 ("Keep it alive"). My first successful game jam, and made while under quarantine. I believe these two facts may be related.

Special thanks to my lovely partner, who let me work on this for 3 days straight. I owe them several "get-out-of-chores free" cards. Additional thanks to Jade, Carlyle, Susan, Devlin, and Vinego for letting me move our GURPS session so I could finally, finally do a Ludum Dare.

Keep on cranking.
